Mooring fees

Moorings in the harbour are charged based on the width of the mooring. A mooring of a given size (e.g. 12 feet) will accommodate a boat whose beam is two feet less than the mooring size (e.g. 10 feet). Dry sail moorings (for dinghies and other boats stored out of the water) are charged a rate based on either the type of boat (e.g. Laser or Sailboard), or by a weight limit. Initiation fees for wet moorings may be paid over four years.

Mooring fees include winter storage, spring launch and fall haulout. BYC has holding tank pump out facilities, free to members, as well as gas, diesel, and fresh water at the service dock.

Long-term and Temporary Moorings

A long-term mooring is allocated on a year-to-year basis until the member resigns from the club or decides to vacate the mooring. To secure a long-term mooring the member must pay a Mooring Initiation Fee, which is equal to the Annual Mooring Fee for the mooring size (see table above). The Mooring Initiation Fee may be paid in equal instalments over four years.

A temporary mooring is allocated as space permits. There are is no Mooring Initiation Fee for a temporary mooring, but the mooring may be re-allocated if the mooring is required to accommodate a member who has secured a long-term mooring by payment of a Mooring Initiation Fee.

Currently, there are 34 wet moorings available at Britannia Yacht Club. New members may therefore request a temporary mooring and defer paying the Mooring Initiation Fees for their boats until such time as the harbour is full, at which time they will have the option of converting to a permanent long-term mooring or risk losing their temporary mooring.
